Recognizing the Impact of AAPI-Owned Businesses During AAPI Heritage Month

May 6, 2025

As we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, we honor the culture of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and their impact throughout history. This month and all year long, we recognize the AAPI-owned businesses that make a difference locally and nationally.

The U.S. Small Business Office of Advocacy reports that there are over 3 million AAPI-owned businesses in the U.S. These businesses generate more than $958 billion in annual revenue, fostering economic growth in their communities and the U.S. When AAPI-owned businesses thrive, their communities can better invest in resources that help residents thrive, too.

AAPI-owned businesses also stimulate the job market by providing employment opportunities at the local level. There are more than 2.4 million AAPI-owned employer firms in the U.S., providing over 5 million jobs and more than $190 billion in payroll. These businesses that employ community members bring in almost $850 billion in sales annually. Job opportunities at such businesses help make it possible for local residents to make a living and support their families.

Lendistry is proud to help AAPI-owned small businesses access the funding they need to grow their businesses and expand their impact in their communities. PI.KL Studio in Baltimore provides design, development, and construction services for architectural projects on various scales. Bakers Bench offers a wide variety of fresh and innovative pastries, both vegan and otherwise, in Los Angeles. In New York City, Kolkata Chai Co. brings traditional and authentic chai to its four cafes and customers nationwide with shipping.

AAPI Heritage Month is a great time to show extra appreciation to AAPI-owned small businesses, but your support should continue throughout the year. When you give to local AAPI-owned businesses, you enable them to build a long-lasting and significant legacy in your community.
